500 kilometres from Vientiane, the capital of Laos, a child has just died while playing with a cluster bomb. Who killed this child? Murderous recklessness or pernicious awareness that insists on the use of these weapons? Who are responsible? The army? Armament firms? Which countries? Who else? Who should pay the costs of war? And how can compensation ever be made? Where are those who have caused this global pollution? Many countries in Asia, South America, Sub-Saharan Africa, along with Europe, suffer the same nightmare. The questions seem simple. But they disturb and demand a response. A response that each of us must provide.
