Tom Vatanen, star photographer of a major Canadian magazine, gets ready to receive the Journalist of the Year award. He accepts a request from Peter, his chief editor, to cover a dramatic news story in the Montreal suburbs. But when Tom discovers the bodies of ten young people who’ve died from an overdose, he’s appalled and refuses to photograph them. On his way back, Peter’s car sideswipes a hare. Without a word, Tom gets out of the car and plunges into the forest after the animal. The encounter between this man and a hare that possesses almost magical powers becomes an enduring friendship that will lead the pair across the Great Canadian North in a series of amazing adventures, a voyage of discovery.
