In the 1880s, in the far reaches of the American Wild West, the small town of Big City awaits the arrival of the latest convoy of immigrants. Alas, the convoy is attacked en route by Indians, and all of the adults from Big City rush out to defend it. Next morning, the town’s children wake up orphans, their only adult company consisting of an aging alcoholic and the village idiot. From that day onward, the village idiot becomes sheriff, the aging alcoholic becomes justice of the peace, and Big City acquires a child mayor, a child barman, a child coach, a child grocer, a child carpenter/mortician, and so on…
