Eight-year- old Lola Arendt disappears on an island in Scotland. Her parents, Martin and
Sarah, are shattered by this terrible event and separate.
Two years later, Lola is rediscovered at the exact spot where she had previously
disappeared. She is alive and apparently in good health, although she doesn't speak.
Martin returns to the island to get her, but the joys of reunion are quickly followed by
questioning and fear.
What exactly happened and why doesn't Lola speak? What secret is she hiding? What is
the mystery that hovers around her?
Whether it's reality or paranoia, Martin feels spied upon, everything strikes him as
suspicious. The crossing of this island at the end of the world, in this wild, strange and
threatening landscape, will inexorably lead them to the most extraordinary discovery.
