In the movie industry, the production designer is in charge of designing and constructing sets and choosing shooting locations. He or she supervises all aesthetic, technical, logistical, and budgetary aspects of the film's design. The guidelines provided by the French Association des Chefs Décorateurs de la Production Cinématographique (Production Designers' Association) define the role in this way: "The production designer creates the physical space of the film and establishes its visual style within a set budget."
